Painted Baskets

Many of us who love gift baskets customize them to our specifications. One way to do this is to spray paint baskets that aren't available in the colors we prefer.

How do you choose a basket for painting and apply the color?

First, select a basket made of natural fibers. This material is best for color saturation.

The white basket shown is already painted. If you attempted to re-paint it, the color would not hold because of the basket's smooth finish.

Second, choose your preferred non-toxic paint packaged in a spray can.

Third, cover the surface where you will paint the basket with plastic, newspaper, or painting tarp.

Fourth, begin spraying the basket while wearing gloves and a mask for added protection.

Last, let the basket dry for up to three hours. You want to make sure that the paint is completely dry before putting it to use.

Look at the basket thoroughly to ensure that paint was applied to all areas.

I've painted baskets in two and three colors for Easter celebrations. It was simple to spray each color on one-half or one-third of the baskets and letting them dry in time for egg hunts.

Spray painting baskets is worth the effort because the baskets will be coated in your chosen color.

Now all of your baskets will coordinate with different areas within your home.

A photo of a finished painted basket design will soon appear on the gift basket page.
